Chris Brown Update: Wrigley Suspends Campaign; New Details Emerge

Things are not looking good for Chris Brown. Wrigley announced on Monday that they were suspending his Doublemint gum ad campaign in the wake of assault allegations. In a statement released by the company, they expressed expressed concern about the "serious allegations made against" the 19-year-old singer.

As if that were not bad enough, on Tuesday, Detective Deshon Andrews, the LAPD's chief investigator in the case, told CNN that he carried his findings straight to the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office. After they reviewed the finding, they asked police to do more investigative work before they decide whether to add additional charges in this domestic violence.

As we told you earlier, Brown was released after posting a 50-thousand dollar bail. He's due back in court on Thursday, March 5th. Even though it's widely speculated that the victim in this case is Rihanna, the police haven't said that.

Speaking of Rihanna -- who allegedly is in a safe place after being released from Cedar Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles -- a source was quoted by People magazine as saying, "Chris knocked her around. Black eye, blood, bruises. She had to be treated by a doctor."

In addition, a police source confirmed that the 20-year-old also suffered "a swollen split lip and two red and purple contusions on either side of her forehead." The source, who described the police pictures added, "She looked distraught and in a lot of pain."

At this point, both Chris and Rihanna have cancelled their upcoming appearances. The NBA has issued a statement that Brown will no longer participate in their All-Star Game events in Phoenix this weekend, and Rihanna backed out of a Friday night concert in Malaysia.
