No More "Light"

Here's how you KNOW things are wrong in this country. After 72 years, CBS' Guiding Light is going dark. The soap, which started the careers of actors like Taye Diggs and James Earl Jones, will air its final episodes on Friday, September 18th.

Guiding Light started as a 15-minute drama on NBC Radio on January 25th, 1937. It debuted on CBS TV in 1952. The drama -- set in the fictional town of Springfield and focusing on the Spaulding, Lewis, and Cooper families -- is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest-running television drama.
