More on Queen Latifah's Beautiful Struggle

We told you about Queen Latifah's current legal troubles. Now it seems there may be a little more than money at stake. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, makeup artist Roxanna Floyd and stylist Susan Moses are not only suing to get their money -- a million bucks between the two of them -- but also to keep quiet about Latifah's sexuality. Even though the rapper-turned-Oscar nominated actress has avoided talking about her preference, everyone in Hollywood knows that Latifah loves the ladies. In fact, she was supposedly supposed to marry Jeannette Jenkins, her longtime personal trainer, last year.

Suits Not a Good Look for Latifah

We all know that it costs to look good, but someone obviously forgot to tell Queen Latifah. According to the BBC, the rapper-turned actress is being sued by both her make-up artist and stylist because she didn't pay them.

Roxanna Floyd claims she lost 700-thousand bucks when the star born as Dana Owens didn't pay her for work done between July 2005 and February 2008. In addition, the make-up artist claims she's owed for helping develop, produce, and market Cover-Girl's Queen Collection, Latifah's cosmetics line.

Meanwhile, stylist Susan Moses says Queen stiffed her for 300-thousand dollars for her efforts. Apparently Moses was promised a 50-thousand dollar-a-year salary for advising the star in her role as the spokeswoman and model for a lingerie line that targets fuller figured women in 2005.

Both Floyd and Moses filed paperwork in federal court in Manhattan on Monday. a spokesperson for the Academy Award-nominated actress said that the legal actions had no merit. Stay tuned for further developments in these cases.

No Men for The Queen?

Has Queen Latifah given up on men? According to the New York Daily News, the rapper-turned-Oscar-nominated actress has been quoted as saying, "I [used to] ingratiate myself to [men] and then sleep with [them]. Afterward, I felt disgusting- really gross and nasty ... and I hated myself. That feeling was so horrible, I decided I would never do that again."

Before you get your panties in a bunch, know that the quote was included in Shaun Robinson's new book, Exactly As I Am, which was written to offer candid advice for girls on how to believe in themselves.

The Academy Awards From a Macklicious Point of View

Please forgive my lateness in posting the Oscar results. I guess I was so bummed that neither Taraji P. Henson nor Viola Davis came close to getting love from the Academy Awards that I just didn't want to comment.

The 81st Annual Academy Awards were more entertaining than usual, thanks to Hugh Jackman. He was a good host, and his Broadway background made it fun for us, too. I thought it was nice that they didn't spend a lot of money on the opening sequence, and Anne Hathaway was good, too.

Speaking of performances, Beyonce and Queen Latifah really did their respective things. Very nice.

While my girls Henson and Davis didn't pick up Oscar gold, it was a big night for people of color. Slumdog Millionaire was the belle of the ball, picking up eight statues, including Best Picture.

The presenters were pretty good, too. Ben Stiller was the standout, even though I wasn't really sure what he was trying to do. It was still funny, though. Another thing that was cool was the way they had the five presenters for the individual awards.

Oh, and can someone please give Cuba Gooding Jr. a high-five for saying what we all were thinking about Robert Downey Jr.'s nomination? Not to take anything away from his performance in Tropic Thunder, but it's hard enough for brothers to get work in Hollywood without White boys dressing up in blackface to take roles.

The Queen Works to Raise Foreclosure Awareness

While President Barack Obama and his team work on a foreclosure recovery plan, Queen Latifah, Wyclef Jean, and New York radio personality and actress Angie Martinez are trying to raise awareness of the issue. The three are participating in a bus tour of Newark, New Jersey on Wednesday to let homeowners know what resources are available to help with mortgage payments.

After the tour, Latifah, Jean, and Martinez will participate in a roundtable discussion with national and community leaders to delve further into the foreclosure situation. The event is sponsored by the HOPE NOW alliance -- an alliance of counselors, mortgage market participants, and mortgage servicers working to help as many homeowners as possible avoid foreclosure and stay in their homes.
